Tag Bib

One of my best girl friends had a baby girl this year, and while I really enjoy spoiling her, sometimes I really like to spoil her with something handmade.  This was inspired by a holiday themed tag bib found at Kirklands and I decided to try it.  I had a kid theme shower curtain sample with the frog motif and thought that would be good for cleaning and durability.  The ribbons I had on hand in my room and I backed the motifs with a bit of sheet batting.  I thought it had turned out pretty well, and when it didn't even make it out of the box before M had it in her mouth, I knew I did a great job.

First Attempt at Homemade Rolls

So it is tradition for my husband and I to bring the "rolls" to Thanksgiving dinner.  This year, that happens to be today.  In the past I have brought a type of biscuit since I have a very good recipe for that.  This year, I wanted to bring a real roll, and so far so good!  I got the recipe from All Recipies and it is called Sweet Dinner Rolls.  A reviewer had said she broke the recipe down into little balls and baked them in a muffin tin to make clover rolls.  I thought that would be good and look at them right before they went into the oven... mmm!  Can't wait to try them!

The Start of the Holiday Decorating

Hello All!

The holidays are my favorite time of year because you can go all out decorating and it only makes your house feel more inviting!  This is the first year that I decided to decorate the table to just be "pretty".  Everyone knows that my kitty is the king of the table, but he is adjusting well.

The centerpiece greenery has lights woven into it, and I will actually light the candles (maybe).  I made the napkin rings using ornaments and ribbon, and I may have invented my own napkin fold.  I think I might need a set of glass glasses to really make the table feel "set", but for now, the holiday plates and mugs will do!  Enjoy!

New Product Day

Today I was browsing at the Rochester Scrapbooking Co. and found this new (to me) product, Flower Soft.  It looks like a type of fiber confetti that I glued down with some liquid two way glue.  The window views I cut out and used pop dots to assemble, also from the Flower Soft line of products.  It might not come thru as well as I like in the pictures, but the flowers I put the flower soft on look great!

Pumpkin

Here is one of the cutest pumpkins ever crafted if I do say so myself.  He was constructed with hardboard, from my own drawing.  I used the sections for the pumpkin as separate pieces, and individual raised pieces for the face and stem.  Thanks to my hubby for doing the sawing for the pieces and building the backing.  I hope he makes you smile!

Holiday Card 2010

Some of you will be the recipient of this beautiful card.  I pulled my inspiration from a sample card in the scrapbook.com card gallery.  It features a background neutral, strips of patterned papers in blues and greens (with the edges tinted brown) and "Holidays" stamped in brown.  Across the top is a metallic paper strip, as well as double layered die cut snowflakes and just a dot on the ends of the strips.  While the technique was quite simple, boy were they time consuming!  But, when you are happy with the end result, it's worth it!

Teddy... the bear

This was a quick project, (a first for me to follow a pattern), using some clearance yarn I just couldn't resist.  I am going to stitch a face on once I decide on a cute way to do it.

A fun afternoon project

There are so many projects for the holiday season that I would love to make.  After seeing so many of these in stores, I decided to try and make one myself.  I got a cone and painted it red to coordinate with my ribbon.  Then I used four different ribbons to make layers of loops and a miniature tree topper to finish it off.... for now.  I think I'll add some ornaments and/or jingle bells to really "finish" it off :-)

Fall Door Wreath

I love to change seasons on the front door.  While not every season has its own handmade decoration yet, I am working on it.  Here's the newest addition to the door decor family.  It is made on a wire form, with silk grasses and cattails for the shape, as well as a red flower and purple thistles.  Thanks for viewing!

My Humble Abode... The Craft Room

Welcome to my craft room.  I have many custom pieces built by my husband, and some purchased storage items as well.  You can read full descriptions of the pictures (and see more) of them at My gallery on Scrapbook.com

Here are some shots of the room. Enjoy!

This one features my paper racks and cabinets, both built by my husband.

This is my workstation, with my stamp wall and drawer units for things to "hide" away
This features my cabinets and boxes, but with my idea gallery for cards mounted to the wall

I hope you enjoyed the tour.  See you again soon!

Re-energizing Day in the Forest

After a wonderful morning and early afternoon at a local state park with my husband, we got back and reviewed our pictures and look what a wonderful day we had!  I usually don't scrap pages that feature only one picture, but I think one like this might deserve it.  I felt so good after our time out and about that I came back and got some major craft on!

Welcome!

Thanks for visiting my new blog.  I hope you have come for many a reason:  Whether it is to stay current, find some inspiration, or to just spend some quality browsing time, ENJOY!
