I am going to try and make 2011 my best year yet for crafting. This includes my lucky clover door decoration that just got hung on the front door. It started as a cut piece of plywood (thanks hubby Dan!) and the edges got a coat of shamrock green paint. Then, a few different patterns of paper got modge podged onto the front, the edges got trimmed and it was time to embellish. This one features beads on the the wire, a green silk carnation, a small ribbon bow, and a few buttons. The finishing touch included gold glitter glue close to the edge of the front. I can't wait to see it in the daylight tomorrow out on the front door!

More yarn fun
These are a first attempt at knitting. It really is a challenge to learn how to knit after crocheting for so long, but I guess I can hold my own on basic things. These are little hand cuffs, fingerless, but with a thumb hole. The nice part about this project was that it went quick and I didn't have to do it in the round. I will be attempting a hat that matches, we will see how that goes!
After a long time away...
A new post!!
I have been busy lately playing with different crafts, and have re-fallen in love with crocheting. This is an ear warmer that I made complete with custom crochet flower and button embellishments. I sure hope the runner in the family likes it once she gets it next weekend!

Wedding Album Pictures
Hello Everyone!
I recently finished the pages for my 18" x 18" wedding album and posted the pictures to my Scrapbook.com gallery. You can enjoy them by clicking here. This picture is of the cover of the album. I covered the original book with fabric, and then embellished it with feathers, beads, and my favorite flower, a gerbera daisy. Enjoy!

Time to CREATE!
So one of my newest friends shares the creative spirit with me and I was more than happy to assist her in trying to be creative when I realized that we all need some inspiration from time to time. I decided to gift her something I had made for Christmas, I just had to come up with what it would be. I found a picture of some "springy" letters, and decided to make my own. The word create kept coming to mind, so I used that and painted the letters first. Then I embellished each one with a different material, and worked on bending some wire for the springs. I enlisted the help of my husband and he cut the block for mounting and helped me decide what glue to use for the spring joints. We settled on a two part epoxy and the result turned out amazing. The only thing I am more proud of than the final outcome is the place it now resides.... :-)

Spring Wreath
Hello All...
Boy is this a cold winter in Minnesota... To spread a little "light at the end of the tunnel" cheer, here is a pic of my front door spring wreath. I love gerbera daisies and thought the bird was too cute to not include. The wreath is a wire form with a greenery bush that I separated out and attached, then with lots of gerbera daisies and the bird glued in. I can't wait till it's seasonally appropriate to put it out!

Tag Bib
One of my best girl friends had a baby girl this year, and while I really enjoy spoiling her, sometimes I really like to spoil her with something handmade. This was inspired by a holiday themed tag bib found at Kirklands and I decided to try it. I had a kid theme shower curtain sample with the frog motif and thought that would be good for cleaning and durability. The ribbons I had on hand in my room and I backed the motifs with a bit of sheet batting. I thought it had turned out pretty well, and when it didn't even make it out of the box before M had it in her mouth, I knew I did a great job.
